Distress Inks have ruined me...

Sweet Ebony, Sugar Nellie, Elisabeth Bell

To explain...I really love distress inks. I've been using them exclusively for the last few months. I first saw them on Marlene's blog and loved her cards. She has an awesome tutorial here that totally inspired me and I went out the next day and bought 10 distress inks. I'm up to 16 and want more! I used to paint so the watercolouring is just so much fun for me. So this card...I made it for a challenge at Splitcoast and I'm really not a fan of it! I decided to colour with prisma colours because it had been a long time and they were what got me into stamping. I used to love them. Not so much anymore :) I was so frustrated with this card. I took out my frustrations with the overdone distressing around the Sweet Ebony! I'm wondering if anyone has found this - that you've gotten so used to one way of colouring that you just can't go back anymore? And one more quick question - for those of you that do use Distress Inks what type of paper are you using? I've only used watercolour paper so far :)

The Recipe:
Stamp: Sweet Ebony (Sugar Nellie)
Ink: Ranger, Distress Inks
Embellishments: Flower (Prima), Ribbon from Michaels
Paper: K & Co. (at Costco)

Thanks for stopping by! I just recently added Google Analytics so it's been so much fun to see all the different places in the world that people are coming from! Thanks for all the lovely comments - I read every one - and I do try hard to respond :)

oh this is a great card...i think your colouring is gorgeous....though i do know what you mean...I used to colour with prismacolor pencils before using distress inks....I had ago the other day with my pencils and really got so frustrated as i couldn't get the effect that i was after.(or used to be able to achieve)...strange that you felt the same way...

I use acquarello watercolour paper for my distress inks...hot pressed. i have found this great...for me anyway..

Hi Honet gteat card great coloira and nothing wrong with the colouing. I must admit I find it hard to use anything but distress inks, although I have used my Promarkers a a bit more this week. I always use 300gm Hot Press watercolour card if that helps

I too love the ditress inks. I use Fluid Chalk ink for mine. They are dangerous once you start using them it is hard to stop.

I love this card! I love the heavy distressing on the card. I like distress inks too. But for some reason use them mostly on masculine cards. Hmmmmm Anyway I use distress inks on just about any type of paper or cardstock

Fabulous card. And your coloring looks great.
I feel like I've been living under a rock--I've never used distress inks to color. Do you watercolor with the pads or reinkers. I'd appreciate any info you are able to share.

I think you did an awesome job! The way you distressed the edges almost looks like "rays" coming off of her too! Great job!

Hiya.. I'm so sorry I got you converted to the distress inks hun, maybe I should put a warning notice by my tutorial!! lol

I found the same as you about using my prisma pencils and am seriously thinking of selling them as I only use my inks and promarkers now.
The card I use is the same as Jaqui's (hot press) and find the colours just melt on this paper.

Will add that I totally adore this project and the colouring is fab!, just that I can so imagine your frustration!!

Big hugs, Marlene xx
