Dutch Dare Card Challenge!

I should really be studying but this project has been sitting on my bookshelf unfinished since Thanksgiving (Canadian). And well...it's driving me crazy! I found this idea for decorating a coffee tin to hold prismacolour pencil crayons somewhere on someone's blog. I wish I could link to them but I have no idea where I saw it. I did a lot of embossing on it and I was happy to find out that I could still colour in the sunflowers with prismacolours/baby oil even though they were embossed. And I'm entering this into this week's Dutch Dare Card Challenge since the challenge is to make anything but a card. Here's the finished product:

prismacolour pencil holder

One thing that I did add of my own for this was the dividers. I wanted to somehow keep some of the pencils separated so I cut a cereal box and made four sections for the inside of the can. The only downside to this project is once your pencils get to short they can get lost in the can. I'll probably add something to the bottom of the tin eventually so that the pencils will get a boost :) Here's a view from the top with the pencils:

And then without the pencils:

super cute idea. I have made one but it's been yeras and it didn't have the great dividers on the inside....very nice. I bet I would use my pencils if they were in something like that on my desk :)

That's a great idea Heather! I still have all the clay projects from my kids that they made in school for my pencil holders! Great idea though! Here's a filler thought - what if you stuck a padding of tissue paper in there? I do that for my candy basket at work as the candy gets low! I was thinking too that, as you keep tossing your pencils in there and they make all sorts of colored marks wouldn't that be a neat background for a card or scrapbook page eventually?! How totally random! Just a thought.....

That's BRILLIANT! You're a genius! I say that because I've been pushing my pencils around the can...digging through them...then finding the one I want AFTER I've used another shade! I'm going to run out and make dividers!!! Thank you so much for sharing that!

hugs & smiles

Really like this - I've been planning to make something to hold my SU pen sets and keeping the colors separate is what has been baffling me :) Thanks for the inspiration!
